reservations than last year.
Reported by Nicolas, Wine Garden Crete.
“I do get an increased amount of inquiries and reservations are about 40% higher than last year.”
Nicolas sees the work on Google as a positive contribution, while noting that several factors influence results. He describes a volatile summer and still sees room to improve the year’s overall performance.
Wine Garden Crete joined Visible Tourism’s programme through Wines of Crete. A detailed audit identified practical priorities for its Google Business Profile. The team now publishes updates, responds to reviews and regularly adds photographs. Its latest year-on-year comparison shows stronger visibility and more actions from people exploring the business on Google.

A distinctive experience near Heraklion
Wine Garden Crete introduces visitors to the island’s indigenous grape varieties through guided tastings in a hilltop courtyard near Heraklion and Knossos. Views across vineyards, olive groves and the surrounding countryside are part of the experience.
For a business welcoming travellers, its Google profile is an important place to show what a visit feels like and help people take the next step.
A practical starting point
Our audit reviewed the business’s Google profile, website, photographs, reviews and local discovery. It recognised strong guest feedback while identifying opportunities to make the profile more complete and active.
At the time of the audit, no live Google posts were visible, and replies appeared on around a quarter of the written reviews examined. The action plan recommended regular updates, more consistent review responses and continued additions to the photo gallery, alongside improvements to visitor information.
What the performance data shows
The Google Business Profile exports cover the same 30-day period in each year.
| Metric | 2025 | 2026 | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Profile views across Google Search and Maps* | 492 | 1,335 | +171% |
| Requests for directions | 54 | 112 | +107% |
| Website clicks from the profile | 37 | 59 | +59% |
Requests for directions more than doubled, while website clicks also increased. These are concrete signs of interest in finding the venue and learning more about its offer.
Wine Garden’s story brings the association programme down to the level of an individual tourism business: clear priorities, regular action by the team and performance that can be reviewed over time.
Reservation growth. The approximately 40% increase is Nicolas’s own report compared with last year. It has not been independently verified against reservation records, and no exact comparison period was specified. It is separate from the dated Google profile measurements. Nicolas notes that several factors contributed to the result.
*Google performance. Google Business Profile performance exports for 24 August–22 September 2025 and 2026. Percentage changes are rounded. Profile views sum the mobile and desktop counts for Search and Maps; they are not a count of distinct people across all channels. Direction requests and website clicks are recorded actions, not confirmed visits or bookings. This year-on-year comparison does not isolate the programme’s contribution from other influences.
